Hype

Hype..... What even is Hype...?!! Do I really care if this project possess hype...? Was there even any to begin with...? Am I slow in releasing this video...? The answer to these questions is a resounding No. I will release this project when I feel I have enough of what I define as watchable footage. The release date could be in 2 years it could be in a few months. Patience is required. The deeper I venture into the filming of this project the higher standards I set myself. Thus in each session it becomes harder and harder to gain what I feel is required both for pleasurable viewing and personal satisfaction.... 

Anyways, Im over that bullshit. Heres a couple from a recent trip. James Kates again playing host. Blackrock providing for me and some mates. Pretty good weekend over all. Quick in and out. Just the way I like it in Sydney. The place is chaos on another level.

Mother nature can be a cruel. So cruel is fact that this project has almost come to a complete halt due to the lack of wave quality that we have been provided with lately. About a month or so ago there were some slight relief for a day or two but thats about all that can really be said in terms of filming for the last 3 months hence the lack of blog updates via Facebook and here.

In the meantime I've been tried to make time for other things. Camera, Jetski and Hilux have all been serviced. While in the past week I took a brief trip over East to Bryon for Splendour In The Grass, which I recommend to anyone if they want a three week comedown and a decent way to blow a couple of grand. Hahahaha. So I suppose it hasn't all been doom and gloom on the western front.

Anyways. I'll try and make some more effort to get on board and get shit happening but no promises. Heres a few of Lewy you'll probably find on Facebook if you look hard enough.

Hand to Keyboard

Wow. Its been a while between drinks. Almost a month since I penned my last blog post.

Got things going on in my life right now though. Im rolling as solo as I have been for a while. Really trying to bury myself in my work and this filming gig to forget about things that aren't easily forgotten. I need to remember what being alone is all about I reckon.

Anyways this blog isn't about a physco-analysis of my life, as much as I want to tell everyone who reads this blog about it. Hahaha. Haven't had much positivity flowing from the ocean either. She just hasn't been happy lately. Howling onshore winds, followed by more howling onshore winds, followed by 1ft off swell. This obviously heralds the beginning of the Western Australian winter. Ohhh how we all rejoice!!!

Aside from that, Scott Rigby, Nick Perry, Finnegan and myself made a quick trip to the Clop doctor a couple of weekends ago. Notorious for being out to hurt anyone and everyone that rides her, the boys put in a fine showing. Though a little slow and maybe a fraction small there is always a couple down there to be had. Perry took one for the team, cutting his feet up getting sucked over on one of the half onshore bombs of the day while Scotty and Lewy managed to snag a couple each before we pulled the pin. Oh and did I happen to mention we took four on my ski. Lewy standing on the back. Haha. Never again!!

Anyways. Stay tuned, some pretty big plans in the woodwork. I think a land of Coronas and Cocaine is calling my name. Hahaha just joking but really keep an eye on this space. What will be will be....

Meet a fellow Ocean Bro.

Jimmy Giving Lewy The "How To" On Instagram.

Most of you probably already know him. Creator of boog flicks Waynes Addiction, Crazy, Chicks and my personal favourite Fever Dream..... He goes by various guises - Flames, Jatesy (to myself), Variable Frames Rates and The Stoke to name but a few. James Kates.

It wasn't long ago that I first met him. Jason Finlay and Jimmy K spent a few weeks over West while the Box comp was running. We filmed a few times round here coupla Cobbles days some tows nothing major.... Then shared a pretty harrowing experience sinking my Jetski and swimming in with one board from about 2km out through a solid 8ft shorebreak. Good solid male bonding to say the least. Hahaha

East Coast tour guide and genuine good friend this dude can ride a lid people I can tell you that! I would say one of my favourite riders to film. With the ability to draw smooth lines and hit a decent ramp, he's the type of dude that I aim to feature heavily in this project.

For those that don't know him his name is Scott Rigby. Riding for Mitch's label Found he's had a bit of exposure lately and deserves everything he gets. He's been ripping to say the least.

Been hanging and filming with the dude a bit recently. Living in Dunsborough not far from my house, its pretty easy to grab him on the way to anywhere.  He works most days but when he aint working at the local hippie shack he's always keen to get a couple pipes somewhere along the coast.

Took the ski out at Box the other day with him. Looks a bit different from higher, I kinda like these. There was definitely a couple and it wasnt that crowded either. Dan Ryan and Scotty trading the good ones between them.

We've been gone, but now we are back.

If you have missed the trash talk. If you've missed the frames. Its all ok. We haven't gone. Just been busy. Good projects stealing our time time. Haven't blogged at all lately. Combination of my laziness and other things happening. Been sucked into a world that seems out of my control. 

Anyways.... Don't want to get too deep. We've been filming with the Stoke and Flippagain. Away from the warmth of our western home! A week straight of waves, good hangs, haydos bakery, maccas, late nights, driving. Everything that makes this sport more than a passion. It borders on something that some people call an obsession. That can be said for myself anyway. Been driven like a madman lately.

So here are some of the fruits on our labour....
